Getting Started
About 15 minutes per person. We ask one question at a time, and you can speak or type in your own words. There’s nothing to prepare; tell us what you remember.
No. One person can tell a meaningful story on their own. If you both participate, each of you has a separate, private conversation. You don’t need to compare answers first.
After you start, we’ll show you how to send your partner an invitation. They can have their own private conversation whenever it suits them; you don’t need to sit together.
You can continue with the memories you’ve shared even if your partner doesn’t complete their conversation. One voice can tell a wonderful story, too.
Our standard experience is designed for one or two people.
If you’d like to include additional perspectives, such as children, family members, or friends, contact us before starting. We can discuss whether your idea will work with our current format.
Email us at hello@thatshowwemet.com with the email address used to start the story and a brief description of the problem. We’ll help you get back in.
Telling Your Story
Either works. Speaking can bring out little details and unexpected memories, while typing may give you more time to think. Choose whichever feels comfortable.
The conversation is designed to take about 15 minutes, but there’s no need to rush. Some answers may be a sentence; others may become stories of their own. Share the details that feel important to you.
That’s perfectly okay. You don’t need to agree on every detail. Different memories can add warmth, humor, and perspective to the finished story.
Yes. You can upload up to 10 favorite photographs. They don’t need to be professional; an old snapshot can say a lot. Your story also works without photos.
Your existing story can be a helpful starting point.
Our experience is built around a guided conversation because the questions often uncover moments that wouldn’t appear in a traditional written account.
If you have something you’ve already written, contact us before starting so we can discuss how best to use it.
Yes. You can tell the story in your own voice and remember the moments that made the relationship special. Ordinary details—a familiar joke, a favorite breakfast, something they always said—can be especially meaningful.
Our current interview experience is designed primarily for romantic relationships, but meaningful relationships come in many forms.
If you’d like to tell the story of a friendship, a family relationship, or someone who played an important role in your life, we’d love to hear your idea.
Contact us before starting so we can help determine whether the current experience is a good fit.
Your Finished Feature
You’ll receive a written magazine-style feature based on your memories, a downloadable PDF, and a digital version you can share. The wedding package also includes versions for a wedding website, program, and officiant. You can read the opening of your story before deciding whether to purchase; no payment is required to begin.
You can read the complete written story immediately after purchase. The designed magazine-style feature, downloadable PDF, and any included extras follow within 48 hours.
If we’ve misunderstood a memory or gotten a factual detail wrong, please tell us so we can correct it. For substantial changes to the writing, structure, or design, contact us and we’ll explain what may be possible.
You can send the digital feature to family and friends, share its link with someone special, or keep it for yourselves. You can also download the PDF to save a copy.
We don’t currently offer physical printing or framing.
However, your downloadable PDF can be saved or printed through a printing service of your choice.
We’re exploring additional keepsake options for the future.
Tell us what doesn’t feel right. We want the feature to reflect your real memories and voices, and we can correct misunderstandings or factual mistakes. If you’re hoping for larger changes, contact us to discuss them.
Privacy & Your Information
Your interviews aren’t published for other visitors, and we won’t feature your story or photographs on our website or in marketing without your permission. You decide whether to share your finished digital feature with others.
There’s no obligation to purchase after the conversation. You can read the opening before deciding. Your answers aren’t automatically published or shared with other customers. If you want information about removing your interview information, email hello@thatshowwemet.com.
We use the memories and materials you provide to create your feature. We won’t use your story or photographs in public examples, on our website, or in marketing without your permission.
AI helps shape your conversations into a written feature, but the memories and details come from you. We don’t invent events or manufacture a romance. We use what you share to tell the story you lived.
Special Occasions & Offers
Yes. You can share the feature on a wedding website or with guests and family. The wedding package also includes shorter versions for a wedding program and an officiant’s introduction.
Of course. It can be an anniversary surprise, engagement or birthday gift, or a just-because keepsake. You don’t need a special occasion to tell someone what they mean to you.
Free complete-feature opportunities are part of our introductory testing period and may change or end. If you’re invited to participate, we’ll explain what’s included and any conditions before you begin.
We welcome it. If a question is confusing or a finished feature doesn’t feel quite right, email hello@thatshowwemet.com. Your observations help us improve the experience.
