“Lunch. In a word…lunch.”
A mutual friend told me about a woman in Brookline who was recently single, fun and cute. Was I interested? Yes! But, alas, she was not. I asked about “Brookline Girl” every couple of months and eventually the timing was right.
We exchanged some truly engaging, endearing emails. This guy can write! We met for lunch — an awkward lunch. But hey, awkward’s not the worst feeling I’ve ever had …and the conversation was honest and lively banter.
Date 2—Tapas ensued. We talked all through the night and closed the place down. The kindness, the generosity, the fun of the discovery..and oh yeah, he’s handsome!
Dates continued, carving out time for each other. I looked forward to every text, email, phone call and meeting, always leaving with a smile. I was wooed and won.
This has truly been somewhere between a slow, growing courtship of learning how to negotiate grown-up lives, responsibilities, expectations and schedules and a whirlwind romance of travel, exploration and stretching boundaries. Onward!
