“He first saw me a year before we started dating and told his friends ‘I'm gonna marry that girl.”
For one of us, our first interaction was love at first sight. My little sister in the sorority, Lauren, was his best friend. He first saw me a year before we started dating and told his friends ‘I’m gonna marry that girl.’ It was at a sorority event at the Suds Factory in Armory Square. Ryan remembered that moment originally, but Lindsey did not. We later met again at Harry’s and the cards all fell into place.
When we finally got together as a couple, we made sure our moments together were spent at many of the cool locations in Syracuse and Upstate New York. We enjoyed venturing out. We went cliff diving at Buttermilk Falls by Cornell. We also loved going to Rosalie’s Cucina in Skaneateles. I taught him how to drive a stick shift in Armory Square. That day, we had one of our first lunch dates and he forgot his wallet at Empire Brewery Co. He was so embarrassed. We would take each other to classes and just loved being together and enjoying every minute. On the weekends and Tuesdays, we went out at nights to Harry’s and then to the adjoining pizza place. He lived in 208 Comstock and I lived very close by on Comstock. We loved dancing together out at bars and after at “after hours.”
Unfortunately, we didn’t have that much time together at Syracuse since we started dating October of my senior year. We loved going to the Cosmos Diner on Marshall Street – so sad it closed. We also loved going to football and basketball games in the Dome. My graduating a year before Ryan did not impact our relationship. I made sure I visited Ryan and made each moment enjoyable. After I graduated, I loved going back to visit. For Ryan’s graduation, I went to visit and got him an Xbox since he stayed up in Syracuse for summer LSAT classes. I sent him on a scavenger hunt to all of the meaningful places we had been together, including the Kissing Bench. While he was out, his friends helped me set up the Xbox.
Since Ryan is younger and I was already working in finance in NYC, Ryan also took a finance job when he graduated. Then, we both went to University of Miami School of Law. We got engaged my last year of law school and found out we passed the bar exams the day we got back from our honeymoon. We lived in South Beach and enjoyed being newlyweds. After graduating law school, we both worked at big law firms, but now have our own firm with my father-in-law, The Lamchick Law Group. We specialize in commercial litigation and transactional real estate.
The couple later had twins who are most definitely future Orangemen. According to Ryan “they definitely bleed orange”. Lindsey described the family doubling as a significant moment of transition.
Once we found out we were having twins, we knew we needed something bigger than an apartment. We got our first home and moved in the night before the twins were born on 12/22/09. Now, we live in another home on the water in Coral Gables. The most important thing to us is raising our twins the best that we can. They have different needs and are at different schools. It’s not always convenient, but it’s best for them.
Of course, they especially love March Madness time of year when they get to dress up in all of their Syracuse gear. Our daughter even has an Orangemen cheerleading outfit. This year, our new dog joined the family picture. Our favorite time is family time. We have the flexibility to travel often and we do. Our kids are so much fun to be around.
We both loved each other’s friends and still do. We had so many of our college friends in our wedding party. It was such a great wedding because most of our friends are friends. Our Syracuse friends. Our law school friends.
Ryan stated that his favorite part of being at Syracuse was meeting his wife. When asked what his favorite tradition was he stated that it was the ever popular kissing bench. “Well, since we kissed on the kissing bench and later got married, I have to say that.”
